Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and Codaptable when you use the app or this website. We've kept them as plain as we can. By creating an account or using Codaptable, you agree to them.
Who can use Codaptable
You must be 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, and you agree that what you give us is true.
What Codaptable is
Codaptable is a practice tool. You rehearse hard conversations with the Coperson, an AI character, and talk them through with the Mediator, an AI guide. Both are powered by Claude, made by Anthropic. No person is on the other end.
What it isn't
- It isn't therapy, counseling or medical care, and it doesn't assess, diagnose or treat anything.
- It isn't legal or financial advice.
- It isn't a crisis service. If you're in danger, call 911. To talk with someone now, call or text 988 (US), or see Resources.
- It won't tell you whether to stay in or leave a relationship. Decisions about your life are yours.
AI can get things wrong
Everything the Mediator and the Coperson say is generated by AI. It can be inaccurate, incomplete or a poor fit for your situation, and the Coperson is a character, not the real person. Use your own judgment, and don't rely on anything in Codaptable as professional advice.
Your account
Sign-up starts with your email address: we send a one-time sign-in link to confirm it. Then you choose a username and password and give your date of birth. Day to day, you sign in with your username and password, and if you forget the password you can ask for a sign-in link by email. We use your email to confirm your account, send sign-in links and link your account to purchases, never for marketing. Keep your password safe and don't share your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Using it fairly
Please don't:
- use Codaptable to harass, threaten, deceive or harm anyone, or to plan doing so;
- try to get the AI to produce harmful content, get around its safety features, or extract its instructions;
- overload, probe, scrape or reverse engineer the service, or get around plan limits;
- use someone else's account, or break the law.
Codaptable also has to follow Anthropic's usage policies for Claude, so some requests won't be answered.
The free plan and subscriptions
The free plan includes three chat sessions. After that, you'll need a subscription to keep going. The current price is shown before you buy.
- You can subscribe through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or on the web. Web payments are processed by Stripe, and subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel any time. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings. If you subscribed on the web, use the link to manage your subscription in your receipt email or in the app's Account screen, or email support@codaptable.com and we'll help. Your access continues until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Purchases made through Apple or Google are also covered by their terms, and refund requests for those purchases go to them. For a web purchase, contact us.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. If you subscribed on the web, deleting your account also stops your subscription from renewing; your access isn't extended and nothing is refunded. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it in the store before you delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or abuses the service. If we close a paid account for a reason other than a breach of these terms, we'll tell you.
Our content
Codaptable, its name, design, characters and written material belong to us. You may use them only to use the service.
No guarantees
We work to keep Codaptable useful and running, but we provide it as it is and as available. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that practicing will lead to any particular result.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Codaptable isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make or actions you take based on the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above, and if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Codaptable after that, the new terms apply.
